An overview of main technology perspectives and implications for regional energy cooperation

The paper has been developed within the framework of the OMEC Energy Transition, Sustainability and Climate Change Committee activities. It builds on the results of a research survey conducted in cooperation with the University of Paris 1 La Sorbonne, within the scope of a Master thesis on geopolitics of energy (candidate: Manon Chanoine). Nearly 130 actors from 20 countries were invited to take the survey, and 41 responses were collected.

The report gives an overview of the potential for offshore wind in the Mediterranean, its current status of development and likely evolution, also in accordance with the national energy and climate plans objectives, and analyses the role of this technology to enable increased energy cooperation in the region.
